In this project, we implement a two-stage grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) inverter system:
Stage 1: P&O MPPT-controlled DC-DC boost converter to extract maximum power from the PV array.
Stage 2: Three-phase universal bridge inverter with DQ-axis current control synchronized via a PLL.
The system achieves:
Unity power factor operation
Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) below 3% for grid current
Efficient power extraction under varying solar irradiance and temperature conditions
This project demonstrates advanced PV inverter control strategies, including outer DC-bus voltage regulation and inner DQ current decoupling, suitable for utility-scale renewable energy applications.
