Encyclia cordigera | Care, Repotting & 10 Month Update in Self-watering with Inorganic Media

Описание: Hi everyone, it's Annabel, welcome back to my channel! In this video we will update on the Encyclia cordigera following the repot I filmed last October, Approximately 10 months ago. We will look at how it got on with the new inorganic media switch from self-watering with sphagnum, and how it is doing in my care overall. It still hasn't bloomed, so I will talk more about why this could be. FYI- it looks a bit patchy because I had just performed a routine neem spray in the grow room, so the leaves need a good clean off, but I usually do this at the end of summer when I have finished neem sprays for the season.

I believe the Encyclia cordigera thrives when plenty of moisture is provided yet lots of airation is retained, and mine has done amazingly in both self-watering with sphagnum and self-watering with a mix of LECA, pumice and Synthic. I wanted to provide an inorganic alternative to sphagnum, and at the time of the repot I had just discovered synthic, which allowed me to provide more moisture than self-watering with LECA would. In the past, semi-hydro with LECA proved too dry, but now we have better inorganic alternative mixes :-) It also likes plenty of bright light and warm temperatures.
