Remembering Eric Roche - Guitarist Who Changed My Life - My story about one of the best ever players

Описание: Eric Roche was the guitarist and teacher who completely changed my life. I studied under Eric 20 years ago, learnt lots of his music and percussive techniques which hugely helped my journey as a musician and session guitar player. He was one of the best ever acoustic guitar players!

In this episode of my series dedicated to Eric's memory I share with you my story. The story of how I first heard Eric's music which totally changed how I approached the guitar and a week later he became my teacher. Hear how Eric's lessons and music had a huge impact on my journey as a session guitar player.

Eric was an outstanding acoustic guitarist from Ireland. One of the best ever. He was hugely innovative and pushed the boundaries of what the acoustic guitar can do. Eric released three incredible solo acoustic albums, instructional books, live DVD’s, toured the world, taught hundreds of students (including Thomas Leeb and Newton Faulkner) and was an all round top gent!

Sadly taken far, far too young!

In this series I’m going to share with you some of the his music and other arrangements that Eric taught me 20 years ago.

He was an Irish DADGAD player who wrote and performed advanced fingerstyle guitar songs as well as beautiful pieces based on strong melodies and harmony.
Eric was particularly remembered for his track Perc U Lator and his arrangement of Smells Like Teen Spirit. Eric, famously, was a player of Lowden acoustic guitars as well as guitars made by Nick Benjamin. Similarly I play a jumbo acoustic guitar but I'm a Tanglewood acoustic guitar player.
