United Nations chief Antonio Guterres has warned that the future of artificial intelligence must not be left to “the whims of a few billionaires” as he addressed a global AI summit in India. Calling for a $3 billion global fund to guarantee open and equitable access, he said AI must benefit all of humanity, not just a handful of countries or tech tycoons. While highlighting AI’s potential to transform medicine, education and climate action, he cautioned that without safeguards it could deepen inequality and amplify harm.
