Formed in 1964, The Who became one of the most influential bands of the late 20th century. Roger Daltrey, Peter Townshend, John Entwistle and Keith Moon. The first three were originally the Detours and during a gig met Keith Moon and recruited him at once.

They started playing mainly pub gigs and have a plaque at the Goldhawk Social Club in London, they also played a lot at a pub not far from where I lived, The Oldfield Hotel in Greenford London.

Sadly, Keith Moon died in 1978 and John Entwistle died in 2002.

This track 5:15 was written by Pete Townshend as part of their rock opera Quadrophenia, and was released as a single track in 1973 and re-released in 1979 to coincide with the release of the film Quadrophenia

It describes one of the film’s protagonists, Jimmy (Phil Daniels), travelling to Brighton on the 5:15 train. He’s thinking, whilst taking purple heart drugs, about the gaudier side of life whilst sat between two city gents, according to Townshend.
