It all started with the Mahindra-Renault Logan, a mid-sized sedan that was launched in 2007. But the Logan with its dated looks and high pricing failed to strike a chord with Indian consumers. Logan’s failure was so bad that it caused both brands to part ways and end the joint venture in 2010.

Finally, in 2012, Renault realised that to make it big in India, you’ll have to first think like India. As they say, and they say it right, ”India is not for beginners.”

Then Renault took a popular European SUV, made over 40 very India-specific changes and in July 2012 launched the Duster in India priced at just 7.2 Lakh.
