Watch Me Build a Model Railway Table From Scratch!

Описание: EPISODE 10 - BUILDING A COLLAPSIBLE BASEBOARD STAND. In this video, I take on a slightly different challenge – building a bespoke, collapsible baseboard stand for my 4ft by 2ft model railway layout. While this isn’t track-laying or weathering, it’s a vital step towards creating a semi-permanent home for the layout, and I’m excited to share the process with you.

Armed with a rough idea, a stack of scrap timber, and a good dose of trial and error, I set out to build a sturdy, foldable table that would support my model railway but still be easy to fold up and move when needed. No fancy workshop here – just a jack saw, square, pencil, PVA glue, battery drill, screwdrivers, and a mix of screws from the bottom of a toolbox. Most of the wood came from pallets, leftover batten, and some old 3x2 from the shed. It’s proper DIY!

I walk you through my build process step-by-step, sharing the tools I used, why I made certain decisions, and how I overcame a few unexpected challenges along the way. There was no formal plan, just a rough sketch in my head and a willingness to make mistakes and learn from them – which I definitely did. Whether you're just starting out or you're a seasoned modeller looking for baseboard ideas, this episode might give you some useful inspiration.

The final stand includes a lower shelf for storage (bonus!), folds down for transport, and feels surprisingly solid given the budget materials. There's also a little bonus right at the end of the video!
