This film reconstructs a 1938 evening passenger service along the Potteries Loop Line, travelling from Stoke-on-Trent to Kidsgrove and calling at Etruria, Hanley, Waterloo Road, Cobridge, Burslem, Tunstall, Pitts Hill, Newchapel & Goldenhill, Kidsgrove Halt and Kidsgrove - a sequence of now disused stations that once served the industrial heart of the city. The journey follows a timetabled working (17.18–17.50) and reflects the everyday commuter services used by pottery workers, miners, and local residents in the years immediately before the Second World War.
Along the way, the train passes pottery factories, iron and steelworks, coalmines, terraced housing, yards, and junctions that defined the landscape of North Staffordshire in the steam era.

Each station is shown on arrival, with brief on-screen captions giving historical context.
There is little narration — the focus is on the movement, surroundings, and atmosphere of an ordinary working journey on a now largely disused line.

The route and rolling stock are recreated using Trainz Railroad Simulator 2019 and the Potteries Loop Line add-on, with the intention of presenting a calm, observational record rather than a gameplay video.
The route of the loop line from Kidsgrove to Cobridge is well preserved as greenways and walkways. However in Etruria and Hanley developments have removed or obscured much of the line. Much of this route is now followed by the Potteries Way (National Cycle Route 55)
