This recipe is simple, beginner-friendly, and uses pantry ingredients. Whether you know them as mahamri, mandazi, or coconut donuts, this method will give you soft results every time.
Perfect for breakfast, tea time, Christmas, Ramadan, or when you just want something warm and comforting on a Sunday morning.
Ingredients
✅️ 3 cups all-purpose flour
✅️ 1 tsp cardamom powder
✅️ 1 tbsp instant yeast
✅️ ½ cup sugar
✅️ ½ cup hot milk
✅️ 1 cup thick coconut milk
✅️ 3 tbsp butter, ghee, or coconut oil
✅️ Extra flour for dusting
✅️ Oil for deep frying
Instructions
1. Mix flour, sugar, yeast, and cardamom.
2. Add warm milk, coconut milk, and butter.
3. Knead into a soft dough.
4. Cover and let rise until doubled.
5. Roll out, cut into triangles.
6. Fry until golden brown and puffed.
7. Serve warm with chai.
