48 Hours in Zakynthos, Greece | HD

Описание: The Greek islands have been on my travel bucket list for quite a while now but I could never pick which one to start with. Greece is rich with so much beauty, different types of beaches, islands and clear sea.

This September my travel adventure began with a phone call from one of my dearest girlfriends. We had only 48 hours available and so many exciting activities in mind.

I booked my flight last minute and not before long landed on the then rainy Greek island of Zakynthos.

Zakynthos is a small island and with proper planning and a car one can truly experience it during a short getaway. And that is exactly what we did.

As there are so many beaches and things to do on this Greek island, prioritizing was of great importance. Taking the weather into account, we managed to visit:
• Xigia Sulfur Beach – where we swam under the rain in the warm mineral waters
• St. Nikolas Port – where we joined a boat cruise
• Ship Wreck Beach – quite a disappointment
• Ship Wreck View Point – a must go for anyone visiting Zakynthos;
• The Blue Caves
• Potamitis Windmill – beautiful place with amazing views and a relatively OK restaurant

We consciously decided to not visit the turtle beach and the turtle island of Zakynthos, as we believe that the animals have the right of privacy. We also spoke with some Zakynthos locals who explained to us that these two touristic places have done more harm to the turtles of Zakynthos than good.

When you watch the video, you can easily see what the Ship Wreck beach is not in my recommendations of things to do in Zakynthos. It is a beautiful place, full with random tourists who pollute more than the money they spend to go there. The water in the bay still has its signature Zakynthos turquoise colour, but after a few big ships, left, we saw a lot of chin dippers (face masks), plastic coffee spoons and other trash floating around.

The best part of our short adventure was swimming amongst the Blue Caves of Zakynthos. There aren’t any fish to see, but the underwater rocks and formations are equally mesmerizing, combines with the unique blue colours.

All in all, it was a wonderful travel experience and I really look forward to seeing what the other Greek Island have to offer in comparison.
