Famous last words is a comment that has come to mean something that will be proven incorrect in a short time. The phrase is believed to have originated during the civil war from general John Sedgwick who sarcastically stated, “They couldn’t hit an elephant from this distance” before being shot dead by a sniper. In the scriptures there are figures whose last words were powerful and convey important messages for us today.
