Michael Ibrahim, MD, PhD, is director of both the Mitral and Reconstructive Valve Surgery and Mechanical Circulatory Support programs at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. He performs the full spectrum of adult cardiac surgery with clinical specialization in mitral valve repair and replacement, including robotic mitral valve repair, the Ross operation, and ventricular assist devices.
“I form a very close relationship with my patients, and I tend to view them through the prism of my own experience being a family member of a patient and feeling sometimes frustrated about the lack of information and communication and so I always am very sensitive to that,” says Dr. Ibrahim. “I like my patients to feel that they're the most important person that I'm dealing with, that I'm always available and that they're getting the best possible care.”
