Why Relativity Says You Can’t Travel Backward in Time
In this video I explain how special relativity determines the causal order of events in spacetime using light cones and the spacetime interval. We discuss the difference between timelike and spacelike events, and why observers can sometimes disagree about the order of spacelike events. However, relativity also shows that no signal can travel faster than light, which means causes must always occur before effects and true backward time travel is not possible.
