Flying with a service dog - part 2

Описание: Skidboot and I recently flew to Europe to visit family and friends. This was Skidboot’s 2nd international trip. We had 3 flights each way and a total of about 24 hours of travel time, incl. layovers. Air Canada from Prince George, B.C., to Vancouver, B.C. (1 hour 20 minutes). Lufthansa from Vancouver to Frankfurt, Germany (10 hours). Lufthansa from Frankfurt to Zurich, Switzerland (50 minutes).

This video is the second part of our trip, Vancouver Airport and Lufthansa flight with a Boeing 747 to Frankfurt, Germany.

Even so we had pre-boarding, things were a bit chaotic at the Frankfurt Airport. We were in the wrong line at first, and when we were finally in the correct line, one passenger climbed right over top of Skidboot to get past us, then I got bumped from behind by another passenger. Some people are just unbelievably rude.

Space for Service Dog:
Canadian airlines are only required to give you an extra seat (footspace) if your SD weighs more than 65 lbs. and ONLY on domestic flights. On flights to the US and international flights you would have to upgrade or buy an extra seat if your SD requires more space than your footspace.

Flying with a service dog under the Canadian Transportation Act:
The ATPDR define a service dog as a dog that has been individually trained by an organization or person specializing in service dog training; and performs a task to assist a person with a disability with a need related to their disability.
You may be asked to provide an identification card or other document issued by an organization or person specializing in service dog training that identifies both the person with a disability and their service dog; and in the case of any service dog that is not a guide dog, an attestation by that organization or person specializing in service dog training that:-the service dog has been individually trained by that organization or person to perform a task or tasks to assist the person with a disability with a need related to their disability;-a clear description of the task(s) the dog has been individually trained to perform to assist the person with their disability-related need(s);-the credentials of the trainer(s), including any qualifications, certifications and affiliations with professional service dog organizations such as Canadian Association of Service Dog Trainers and the Canadian Association of Guide & Assistance Dog Schools; and a clear description of the specific content of the training program(s) completed by the dog, including the duration of the program, the goals to be achieved by the dog, the involvement of the handler, the assessment methods used and the assessment results achieved by the dog and its handler.
