THE HOUSESHAKERS DEMOLITION ROCK - CONTOUR 2870 160
This is the definitive version of these tracks, re-recorded with better gear, and less messing in the DAW. Enjoy.
THE BACK COVER NOTES:
At last, the multi rock n roll talents of the Houseshakers has been packaged into an exciting album of rocking tunes ranging from standards to early sun material. The Shakers have captured a vast audience of fans due to their performances at rocker clubs and universities as far afield as Scotland and Devon, not to mention appearances with Buddy Knox, Marty Wilde, Lord Sutch, and their tours of France and England with the late Gene Vincent - the band have proved beyond doubt that they are a major force in the world of rock n roll music and must surely be our most exciting rock n roll act a fact that is obvious by listening to this album.
All five members have been on the scene for a good many years and together they have a very high respect for the music they present, the guitar work of Terry Clemson adding a modern technique of guitar picking to a 50s style sound coupled with the driving force of bassist Jimmy Walls and the energetic Les Warren on drums plus some very fine rocking tenor work by John Earl all adds to the exciting sound created behind Graham Fenton who in my opinion is the best all round British rock n roll performer on the scent today. In addition the band and I would like to express our sincere thanks to “The Hawk” for his fine piano playing.
In one solid album Contour have captured the Houseshakers sound as they race through ‘Miss Froggie’, ‘Red Hot’, ‘Bye Bye Johnny’ and the Creedence rocker ‘It Came Out Of The Sky’. ‘Flying Saucers Rock n Roll’ is given the Fenton treatment and the Vincent classic ‘Baby Blue’ will be a favourite track along with ‘Sea Cruise’, and ‘Lights Out’, finally the heavy beat of ‘Henrietta’ works in complete contrast to the tearaway ‘Cadillac’ - all different yet all 100% rock n roll.
During my association with the Houseshakers as their manager I have seen them grow in stature and whether you like British rock n roll or not you will I am sure enjoy spinning this album on your turntables and especially all those who have been eagerly awaiting a release by the band, you will not be disappointed - Gene Vincent once said of the Houseshakers, ‘they’re second to none to the Blue Caps’ - so dust off your suedes, raise your pint and drink to the Houseshakers and British rock n roll. COVER NOTES BY EARL SHERIDAN.
As always this is an ARCHIVE project and no infringement is intended.
