A former Zionist AIPAC member debunks: Zionist hasbara
In this podcast, we talked to Richard Forer. Richard is the author of Breakthrough: Transforming Fear Into Compassion - A New Perspective on the Israel-Palestine Conflict, published in 2010, and Wake Up and Reclaim Your Humanity: Essays on the Tragedy of Israel-Palestine, published in 2020. He is a former AIPAC member and is now an advocate of Palestinian rights.
Both his books describe the inner thought processes that lead normally decent people who ordinarily believe in justice to support indecency and injustice.
In the podcast, we ask him about his transformation from a believer in zionist ideology to a supporter of Palestinian rights. We asked him about the images and narratives that constitute the core of Zionism. He also talks to us about specific things he began to see differently after reading historical materials on the conflict. We end by asking him if he is positive about the way forward on justice for Palestinians.
