This quirky little waltz was inspired by the ballroom scene from the 1949 film Madame Bovary. The use of two-against-three, and three-against-four aims to mirror her desire to fit in one world while living in another. The swirling chromatic figures reflect the dance as it becomes more and more draining on her physically and emotionally; a roller coaster ride that ultimately leaves her out of breath.
