On January 29, 2025, the American Nurses Association (ANA) published the updated Code of Ethics for nurses. It has been ten years since the last update. One month later, on February 28, 2025, they quietly and inexplicably sent out FIVE PAGES of changes/corrections! The corrections focus on changing compulsory terms, such as “must”, to permissible terms, such as “ought to”. There has been no explanation or rationale offered.
