Trump says 'I won’t use force’ to take over Greenland

Описание: Donald Trump has said that he will “not use force” to take over Greenland during a major speech at Davos, despite previously threatening to use the US military to secure the territory.

Addressing delegates at the World Economic Forum, the US president said that Washington was “the only country” that could secure the island, which he referred to as “a piece of ice”.

“Unless I decide to use excessive strength and force where we would be frankly unstoppable. That is the biggest statement I’ve made. I don’t want to use force, I don’t have to use force, I won’t use force,” he said.

During the speech Trump also repeated his attacks on Europe, saying the continent was “unrecognisable” due to immigration, echoing a trope repeated by the European and American far-right.
