Have you ever walked past the Virginia G. Piper Writers House and wondered about its story? Join Grady Gammage Jr., community leader; Alberto Ríos, director of the Virginia G. Piper Center for Creative Writing; Evan Senat, associate operations coordinator; and Shannon Walker, university archivist, for a conversation offering an inside look at the history and ongoing impact of this beloved ASU landmark.
From its origins as the residence of three ASU presidents to its roles as home of the ASU Alumni Association and later the University Archives, the 118-year-old building holds a legacy of innovation and transformation. Thanks to a generous gift from renowned philanthropist Virginia G. Piper, today it stands as the Virginia G. Piper Center for Creative Writing, a dynamic community resource for storytelling and contemporary literature that continues to shape ASU’s creative future.
