When it comes to third-party sales, Todd explains that there are generally two types of buyers, and they approach deals very differently.
In this video, we break down the main differences between Financial Buyers and Strategic Buyers:
Financial Buyers: These buyers are mostly interested in financial gain. Todd compares them to an individual buying stock in a public company. They are looking for a return on investment, focusing on a company's potential to generate and grow revenue and cash flow. (Example: Private Equity firms).
Strategic Buyers: These buyers are interested in how an acquisition aligns with their own long-term business plan. They are looking for synergies and economies of scale—whether that means adding a product line, accessing new technology, or expanding into a new area.
Understanding these two approaches helps owners see how a buyer values their company.
