Shoulder-Fired Browning M2 Anti-Mechanization Weapon 1936
In 1936 the US Army tested an experimental semi-automatic variant of the M2 Browning .50 caliber machine gun modified for shoulder-firing from a spring-loaded bipod. The project was abandoned right before WW2 because the weapon weighed 77 pound and was considered too heavy for the average soldier.
