In this video, we take a look at the JCAP Treatment Overview's and Neurologist's Observations of AE, Post Strep. The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) recent guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorders associated with streptococcal infections (PANDAS), also known as PANS.
PANDAS is short for Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections. A child may be diagnosed with PANDAS when: Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), tic disorder, or both suddenly appear following a streptococcal (strep) infection, such as strep throat or scarlet fever.
