Ahead of the President of the United States’ (POTUS) visit to the U.K. on Monday, Marine Helicopter Squadron One (HMX-1), who will be responsible for the transportation of the POTUS around the country, were practising flying around Central London.
The flight today consisted of two VH-3Ds (of the HMX-1) three CH-47 Chinooks and a UH-60 Blackhawk (of the US Army based out in Germany).
Having taken off from Biggin Hill Airport at approximatley 12:00 BST, they flew over Regent's Park at 12:15 taking their turns to land and takeoff. (This video only shows the aircraft running in to land as I took photos of them taking off, as seen in the thumbnail.)
The final Chinook departed at 12:30 and the formation continued to the south to Portsmouth to practise flying around there as well. The formation was escorted by a pair of NPAS (National Police Air Service) helicopters, one EC-135 and one EC-145.
