Train Simulator Classic request video 220. This one wasn't requested, although MikkDC was at least partly responsible for this vid coming about. Yesterday he uploaded a vid showing the new Great Western Line remaster for Train Sim World 6, which ended with a station announcement at Paddington giving me an idea, namely to do the run that was announced.
So for this one we are on the Western Mainlines route DLC from Just Trains and are starting at London Paddington station, finishing at Cardiff Central. Stops along the way are at Reading, Didcot Parkway, Swindon, Bristol Parkway and Newport. Total distance is around 146 miles.
For our train we are in a Valenta engine Class 43 HST in Great Western Trains livery, with the then standard consist of 8x Mk.3 coaches and 2x drive cars. For this run we also have the ATP system active, although only in a limited capacity... in fact so limited that it really didn't do anything beyond allowing us to move the train once the initial self-test had been done.
This was the first time I'd travelled on this line and it's fair to say it surpassed all of my expectations. Despite the significant length of the run there were still AI trains on the route, albeit not many of them. It was also the first time I'd used the ATP system on a HST and while it wasn't anything like as intrusive as I thought it would be, it didn't do very much because it was set to only be partially active. I need to find the option to make the ATP fully active by the time I do my next run in a Class 43.
