Hey guys !!!
I am Siddharth , Food Technologist by Profession. I have made this video on the Test format of IELTS 2020 – International English Language Testing System Exam. This is going to be the first part of my IELTS series. In this video I will be explaining in detail about all the different sections in IELTS Academic Exam.
There are mainly 4 sections in IELTS Test :-
1.) Listening Test – In IELTS listening test, you have total of 40 questions and you have 30 minutes of time to listen to the audio which is played just once and afterwards you get 10 additional minutes to transfer all your answers in the answer sheet. Therefore you have total time of 40 minutes and you have to be very attentive while attending this test because if you miss out any line from the audio then you are going to miss next 2-3 questions for sure.
2.) Reading Test – In IELTS Reading Test, you have 3 sections having 1 long passage in each section. The total number of questions is 40 and you get 60 minutes to complete this test. Passages are arranged based on their level of difficulty so I would suggest you to give least time to the first passage and devote maximum time to the last passage.
*Tip – Write your answers directly in the answer sheet else you can be short of time.
3.) Writing Test – In IELTS Writing Test, you have 2 parts and they are : Task 1 & Task 2.
Task 1 : In this task, you have to write a summary by image interpretation i.e. by referring a diagram, bar graph, pie chart, map, flowchart, picture , comparison of 2 or more charts or maps etc. You must complete this task in 20 minutes and minimum word limit of this is 150 words.
Task 2 : In this task, you have to write an essay and it can be on any general topic. You have to write it for a minimum of 250 words and you must complete it in 40 minutes.
4.) Speaking Test – In IELTS Speaking Test, you have 3 rounds and they are : Introduction round, Cue card round and Q&A interactive session with examiner.
Introduction Round: In this round you introduce yourself and examiner can ask you basic questions about your family, educational background, work experience, hobbies, interests, culture, sports, future goals etc.
Cue Card Round: In this round, you get a topic and you have 1 minute of time to prepare for it and then you have to speak on that topic for about 2 minutes. If you speak less, then you might pay penalty & not score the desired band.
Q&A Interactive Session: In this round, the examiner will question you based on whatever you spoke in the previous round. It is going to be a question & answer round of about 5-6 questions.
The total time of speaking test is between 10-15 minutes.
