Commercial growers consider diseases their biggest challenge for high tunnel tomato production. This presentation targets some of the major problems faced by Kentucky high tunnel growers, including bacterial spot and speck, leaf mold, powdery mildew, timber rot, and more. Dr. Gauthier considers environmental conditions like moisture and temperature to describe the life cycles of the bacteria and fungi that cause disease.
Dr. Nicole Gauthier is an Extension professor at the University of Kentucky, Department of Plant Pathology. Her focus is disease management for fruit and vegetables, particularly for small acreage farms. Additional resources can be found at:
