In Mumbai politics, the focus is currently not only on the mayoral race but also on the story of the opposition's defeat. The Mahayuti alliance has secured a clear majority in the 227-seat Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The BJP won 89 seats, while the Eknath Shinde faction of the Shiv Sena secured 29 seats. Despite this, the question of who will be the mayor remains unresolved. On the other hand, Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena (UBT) emerged as the second largest party with 65 seats. However, the figures indicate that the real blow to the opposition came from the breakdown of their alliance. An analysis of the election results reveals that the division of opposition votes paved the way for the Mahayuti's victory.
मुंबई की सियासत में इस वक्त सिर्फ मेयर नहीं बल्कि विपक्ष की हार की कहानी भी चर्चा में है। 227 सीटों वाली बृहन्मुंबई महानगरपालिका परिषद यानी बीएमसी में महायुति को साफ बहुमत मिल चुका है। BJP ने 89 सीटों पर जीत दर्ज की है। एकनाथ शिंदे गुट की शिवसेना को 29 सीटें मिली हैं। इसके बावजूद मेयर की कुर्सी पर सस्पेंस बना हुआ है। दूसरी तरफ उद्धव ठाकरे की शिवसेना UBT 65 सीटों के साथ दूसरी सबसे बडी पार्टी बनकर उभरी है। लेकिन आंकडे बता रहे हैं कि असली झटका विपक्ष को गठबंधन टूटने से लगा है। चुनावी नतीजों के विश्लेषण में सामने आया है कि विपक्षी वोटों के बंटवारे ने महायुति की राह आसान कर दी।
