I just wrapped up my first-ever MERN stack project, and I’ve got to say, building this was a serious journey! I created SmartHelpAI, a support platform that uses real-time AI to actually make helpdesks helpful again.
What I built:
• Gemini-Powered Triage: I used Gemini 2.0 to categorize issues in milliseconds. It gives users instant, friendly step-by-step solutions so they don't have to sit in a queue for hours.
• Custom Experiences: I designed two completely different worlds within the app—a simple "Help Hub" for users and a full-scale "Control Center" for admins to track system health.
• Live Admin Dashboard: Admins can see real-time data on pending escalations, system load, and total issue history at a glance.
• Fully Automated Flow: I handled everything from OTP-based signups and automated SLA tracking to AI-assisted chat sessions.
The Stack: MongoDB, Express.js, React, Node.js, and the OpenRouter AI API.
Going from writing basic scripts to managing a full-scale ecosystem like this was a massive learning curve for me. It really showed me how powerful the MERN stack is when you're trying to solve real-world problems.
