Such demands and design trends over the past hundred years created good conditions for development of tuning styles and car customization cultures, which were not only useful but stylish and cool.

It should be stated that automotive cultures differ greatly all over the world, so some of them may seem crazy or bizarre to us. We have analyzed various thematic Internet resources to pick out the most popular car styling cultures and these may seem awesome, weird & stupid to you at the same time (everything depends on your taste and understanding of auto design).

All information that was gathered in our research is presented in the form of an interactive video presentation.

In this presentation we highlighted such car mods:

hot rod as one of the most widespread cultures, associated with modifying American postwar vehicles;

Kustom Kulture as a rapidly evolving culture, which may be used as a collective term for describing car owners’ styles;

Bosozoku the culture of Japanese youth rebellion;

rat rod – yet another controversial culture, with evolved from the hot-rod style.
