Annie Cohen Kopchovsky made history as the first woman to bicycle around the world. This incredible feat was even more impressive considering that she had no prior experience of riding a bicycle until just a few days before her trip. Standing at only 5 foot 3 and weighing about 100 pounds, Annie faced many challenges as she embarked on her journey. Not only was she a married woman and a mother of three young children, but she also had to overcome societal expectations and limitations placed on women during that time period. On June 27, 1894, at approximately 11 o'clock in the morning, Annie set off from the Massachusetts State House in Beacon Hill.
