How to Diagnose Low Charging Voltage on the Vulcan 750

Описание: Welcome to the Checkered Floor Garage! My name's Frank, and in this video you'll watch me go thru some of the stages of grief as I troubleshoot why my Vulcan 750 has low charging voltage. I came to the conclusion that my stator is toast.

I just purchased a replacement stator (Electrosport ESG050, which was developed as an upgrade over the OEM Kawasaki stator). The OE stators on these models were not known for their reliability and ESG050 was developed as an upgrade for the stock stator. Electrosport's ESG050 incorporates a new type of stator core and utilizes high grade copper winding wire. Electrosport changed the winding configuration a bit and the result is about 20% more output and at the same time a cooler running stator which drastically improves reliability. The price was $121. I mentioned Rick's Motorsports Electric stator in the video, but decided to go with the Electrosport based on the slightly lower price.

I also just purchased a replacement regulator/rectifier. Since I'm going thru this work and expense of replacing the stator, a new (and better!) R/R will protect this large investment of time and money. I went with the MOSFET FH020AA from Roadster Cycle, which will bypass the factory wiring and sometimes troublesome junction box. I mentioned a different R/R in the video...a series type R/R also from Roadster Cycle. I decided to go with the MOSFET based on price.
