Designed by AHR, the responsive facade systems wrapping the two Al Bahr Towers in Abu Dhabi, UAE, are a modern take on the mashrabiya, a latticed screen with geometric patterns commonly found in Islamic architecture.
The facades’ components are programmed to open and close based on the sun’s movement, reducing the buildings’ heat gain by up to 50%.
