This is my personal story about coping with setbacks while living with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND).
Lately, things have been difficult again. After a major seizure, I lost the ability to walk properly, and it’s been about three weeks since I’ve been able to stand or move without help.
I wanted to share what this experience has really been like — the emotional side of losing progress, the frustration of doing everything “right” and still facing setbacks, and the quiet kind of strength it takes to keep going when your body doesn’t cooperate.
In this video, I talk about what it feels like when hope gets heavy — when you’re trying to stay positive, but your world feels smaller and everything takes more effort.
I also share the small things that help me get through it — simple grounding routines, letting myself rest without guilt, and remembering that even slow healing is still healing.
I’m still filming from my wheelchair, and my setup isn’t perfect — but that’s my reality right now.
And I think it’s important to show the truth, not just the good days.
If you’re living with FND or any chronic condition, I hope this helps you feel less alone in your setbacks.
You don’t have to be endlessly positive — it’s okay to be tired, to grieve, and to rest.
Hope doesn’t always disappear; sometimes it just needs to pause and breathe with you. 💙
Thank you for listening to my story and helping raise awareness for FND.
Please feel free to share your own experiences or what helps you cope during flare-ups — I’d love to read them.
