Walk with me | Ep. 7 - Chandni Chowk, Old Delhi, India | Humans of Farash Khana and Khari Baoli

Описание: Old Delhi, Delhi, India | 2022: We begin this walk once again at the Sitaram Bazar neighborhood of Chandni Chowk in Delhi. This area is also generally called Old Delhi and was built on the orders of the Mughal king Shahjahan in the 1600s. The day is gray and rainy and ]we come back to Sitaram Bazar to start our morning with some delicious indian snack and street food, Kachori. After waiting for a few minutes and passing that time by casually exploring some more of this Sitaram Bazar neighborhood, we enjoy a hot, spicy, fresh, crunchy and delicious serving of this roadside delicacy.

Elated and zippy after the hearty Kachori in the Sunday morning rains, we start walking north west towards the Lal Kuan neighborhood. After walking for only about 10 mins we take another break to enjoy another appropriate combindation for rainy mornings - hot Indian tea or chai. We enjoy a delicious, strong tea and pledge to not make any more food pitstops for the rest of our walk.

As we keep walking through the main thoroughfare of Lal Kuan towards Khari Baoli we start to see a completely different side of this Chandni Chowk Sunday morning. The road starts to crowd up with throngs of people going about their morning routines which comprises of selling and buying lots and lots of things by this main street. We walk carefully and thoughtfully and observe the colors and sounds of this area, getting overwhelmed and thrilled by the sheer intensity of this experience.

We keep walking in our original direction, getting closer and closer to Khari Baoli until eventually the crowds and sounds and intensities start to thin out. We end our walk at the end of this road and just at the start of what is called Khari Baoli. Khari Baoli is one of the biggest spice markets of Asia and we plan to explore some of this area in the next walk / episode.
