Just over 20 years ago, in the process of trying to put on my first play at a fringe theatre in London, I met the actor Alan Rickman.
I wanted to tell the story of how I met him and the subsequent kindness and generosity he showed me thereafter because most people will know him as Severus Snape in the Harry Potter films, Hans Gruber in Die Hard or The Sheriff of Nottingham in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. He was far more than a great actor, and there was a side to him that garnered no attention or fanfare because Alan never brought it to anyone's attention.
My hope for telling My Alan Rickman Story is that as humans, we could all prosper, if we were a bit more like Alan Rickman.
