The Hänselejuck is the highlight of the Überlingen carnival and attracts numerous spectators every year. They flock in droves to this impressive event to fill the streets of the town center and experience the demonic-looking performance. The first Hänsele parade with Bengal lighting on a Saturday evening took place in 1964 and was given the name "Hänselejuck". The name refers to the fact that the Hänsele in Überlingen does not jump on the streets, but rather "juckt", as it is called in the local dialect.
