Mike Longo, a former protege of Oscar Peterson is best known as the long time pianist and musical director of the Dizzy Gillespie Quintet. Here Mike leads the NY State of the Art Jazz Ensemble on 10/20/09 to celebrating Dizzy Gillespie's 92nd birthday playing Mike's arrangement of the Gillespie classic "Tanga." The concert took place in the John Birks Gillespie Auditorium in the NYC Baha'i Center. The theater was named after Dizzy, who was a Baha'i, and jazz is played there every Tuesday night in his honor.
