STORY
Marissa stood in the community center lobby, feeling hesitant* about interrupting the busy front desk. She had been rummaging* through her bag for five minutes and couldn’t find her wallet. Her first assumption* was that she must have left it at the grocery store earlier that morning. A volunteer named Greg noticed her flustered* expression and asked if she needed help. Marissa explained the situation, and Greg tried to reassure* her that lost items often turned up quickly. Just then, a woman across the room called out, asking if anyone had lost a small blue wallet. It felt like an unbelievable coincidence*, and Marissa hurried over. The woman said she had found it near the coffee machine and wanted to retrieve* the owner before leaving. Marissa checked inside and felt deeply relieved* to see everything still there. As a gesture* of thanks, she offered to buy the woman a coffee from the center’s café. The woman laughed and admitted she had almost kept walking because she was skeptical* anyone would claim it. After a quick explanation* of where she had been sitting earlier, everything made sense. Marissa left the building feeling grateful* not only for her wallet, but for the kindness of strangers.
