Half Moon Pose (Ardha Chandrasana) – Description, Benefits & How to Do It
Ardha Chandrasana, or Half Moon Pose, is a standing balance pose that strengthens the legs, core, and glutes while improving flexibility and focus. The name comes from the Sanskrit words "Ardha" (half), "Chandra" (moon), and "Asana" (pose).
How to Perform Half Moon Pose:
1️⃣ Start in Warrior II Pose with your right foot forward.
2️⃣ Shift your weight onto your right foot and bring your left hand to your hip.
3️⃣ Place your right hand on the floor (or a block) about 12 inches in front of your foot.
4️⃣ Lift your left leg parallel to the floor, keeping it strong and straight.
5️⃣ Open your hips and chest towards the left side while extending your left arm up.
6️⃣ Gaze up at your raised hand and hold for 20–30 seconds.
7️⃣ Slowly release and switch sides.
