Everyone forgets their phone, wallet, and important meetings... once in a while. But a person with ADHD runs into these problems almost every day of their life. Dany is a college student who struggles with ADHD Intentive Type her entire life. Classic Dany is a story about how Asian American families, particularly Vietnamese American, view mental disorders.
Most of the time, when people talk about ADHD, they often think about the kid who has endless energy and can't sit still for longer than 5 minutes. But there are actually three subtypes of ADHD: the hyperactive type, the intentive type, and the combined type. And the Intentive type is the most underdiagnosed because the symptoms aren't as discruptive. Thus, Classic Dany aims to create discussions specifically about this type.
Disclaimer: Having ADHD myself, this is how I experience it. By no means this short film is a generalization on how every single person with ADHD feels.
