Описание: The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has finalized its historic regulatory overhaul, officially eliminating the long-standing "Duration of Status" (D/S) framework for F-1 academic students, J-1 exchange scholars, and their dependents. Under the new rules taking effect September 15, 2026, foreign students will no longer be allowed to remain in the U.S. indefinitely simply by maintaining enrollment. Instead, CBP officers will issue Form I-94 records with a strict "Admit Until Date" (AUD) capped at a maximum of 4 years or the program end date, whichever is shorter. Furthermore, the traditional 60-day post-completion grace period for F-1 visa holders is cut to 30 days upon re-entry, and students needing extra time for STEM OPT, PhD defense, or master's completions must now formally apply for a Form I-539 Extension of Stay (EOS) with USCIS.
