The Importance of Flow Testing

Flow-testing allows you to compare the actual flow rate of each injector to factory specifications. If the flow is within specifications, you know the injector should perform properly when it is reinstalled back in the engine. Flow-testing also lets you verify that the installed injectors are the right ones for the engine and not incorrectly replaced on a previous occasion. Performing a flow test with a PRO CHARGE Fuel Injector Tester allows you to see the spray pattern of each injector. If you see a normal, cone-shaped mist, you know the injector is flowing properly. Streams of unvaporized liquid in the spray pattern indicate additional cleaning is needed. An injector that fails to respond needs to be replaced. Testing for leak down is a necessity.

Fuel Injector maintenance is a segment of the automotive and marine service industry that has enormous growth potential. Why?

All vehicles now have fuel injectors. We don’t rebuild many carburetors anymore. However, there is a need to rebuild or recondition fuel injectors periodically to restore optimum performance.
Ethanol in gasoline gums up fuel injectors quicker than ever and attracts water. Congress promised us no more than 10% ethanol. Bam here comes E85, another name for 15% ethanol. Let the troubles begin. Every time a fuel injector heats and cools another layer of film is deposited inside the fuel injector. The other big problem with ethanol is that it attracts water.
Optimum performance is essential to preserving a motor’s power, longevity and gas mileage. A clean air filter and regular oil changes do help. However, reconditioned fuel injectors have the greatest potential to show immediate and dramatic improvement in engine performance and gas mileage.
Don’t wait until you have fuel injector problems, regular cleaning of the fuel injector will dramatically increase the life of the fuel injector. We have found some manufacturers in both the automotive and marine industry are finally suggesting, off the car cleaning at a certain interval is a must to maintain warranty.
Diagnostics: Having a quality tester that you are assured you are getting the proper testing results is a must. Fuel Injectors can have leak downs, stuck open or closed. A scan tool will not show this.
