On Sunday, 15 June, we presented a mellifluous summer evening of captivating music.
The first part of the evening was a celebration of the sarangi, featuring Harsh Narayan, grandson and disciple of the legendary Pandit Ram Narayan.
Carrying forward his family’s rich musical legacy, Harsh Narayan brought to life the depth, emotion, and lyrical beauty of the sarangi, accompanied by the distinguished Pandit Sanju Sahai on tabla.
About the artist:
Harsh Narayan is a leading sarangi player of the younger generation, celebrated for his mastery of Hindustani classical music. Born into a legendary musical lineage, he is the grandson of sarangi maestro Pandit Ram Narayan, son of sarod virtuoso Pandit Brij Narayan, and nephew of Aruna Narayan Kalle.
Trained by his grandfather from the age of six, Harsh has developed a deeply expressive style that reflects his rich heritage. An A-graded artist of All India Radio, he has performed with leading musicians worldwide, and his acclaimed albums Scintillating Sarangi (2016) and Dhanurvadya (2020) highlight his dedication to preserving the sarangi tradition.
