Bed's got a second dip
Still shaped like her goodbye

I leave the light on dim
In case regret walks in

Floor creaks like it remembers
Footsteps I don’t hear no more

This room never checked out
But I sure ain't lived since

Story:
In a forgotten corner of a backroad town sits Room 103, its key never returned, its curtains never drawn. It once served as a stopover, a place to rest and move on. But for the man inside, it became something else — a waiting room for ghosts, for silence, for memories that no longer knock.
He didn’t plan to stay. She left in a storm, not looking back, and he told himself he'd follow soon after. But the static on the motel television began to sound like company. The creaking of the floorboards became familiar voices. Cigarette burns in the sink became the only marks left by someone who once mattered.
Every object in that room remembers her. The dip in the mattress, the crooked picture frame she hated, the soft buzz of a lightbulb that should’ve burned out years ago — they all hold echoes he can’t bring himself to erase. So he stays. Not because he wants to, but because it’s the only place where her absence still feels like presence.
And so Room 103 glows on in the night, a flicker of past love trapped in time. People walk past it. Management forgets it. But inside, a man still waits with the light dimmed, hoping that maybe this room — the last place they were together — might let him leave only if she walks through the door first.
