March 2024, we stayed at the KOA in Flagstaff as our homebase while we explored the area. We went north and south and east on a weeklong stay in Flagstaff and saw some 6 great places.
Petrified Forest National Park 2024.

We explored a lot of the Petrified Forest, but the park was much larger than we anticipated and could have seen more if we had more time. So, if you plan to visit and want to hike some of the many trails they have, start early in the morning and maybe plan to stay to see the beautiful stars in this dark sky park at night. Take water and food with you, as there are only a couple of places at the beginning of the park to get anything. There are a couple of nice picnic areas in the park to eat and enjoy the view.
Load the audio tour on your phone before you go, and you’ll be able to learn a lot about the area as you go through the park.
