Описание: 2nd time filming at Canary Wharf Station on the Jubilee Line and also my last video I would film before my move from Essex to Devon.

All Jubilee Line Trains are formed of a 7 car 1996 Stock introduced on the line originally as 6 car sets between Christmas Eve 1997 and July 2001 built by GEC Alstom and Metro Cammell now today Alstom.

Since June 2011 the Jubilee Line runs under ATO on the Seltrac Signalling System built by Thales similar to that on the DLR and Northern Line.

Canary Wharf designed by Norman Foster is the largest station on the Jubilee line and also the 2nd busiest station outside London after Stratford with over 50 million people passing through every year. Interchange is provided with DLR services to Bank, Stratford and Lewisham at Canary Wharf as well as easy walking distance to Heron Quays station.

Before 1987 the Docklands area had been poorly served by railway and so plans were drawn up for a Light rail system which became the Docklands Light Railway known as the DLR.

The DLR began running through Canary Wharf on July 30th 1987 when It opened between Stratford and Island Gardens which seemed to be a success however following a surge of passenger traffic by 1990 something else had to be done.

It was also one of the key reasons for the Jubilee Line Extension and also the Docklands Redevelopment.

Todays 3 through road platform station dates from 1991.

Then over 6 months later on March 16th 1992 when the authorisation of building the JLE was received and construction began in December 1993.

2 entrances of the tube station with one the western side dating from opening whilst the eastern entrance dates from 2004. it was designed at first to cope with over 50000 a day however by 2005 that number exceeded to near 70000 however like every station built on the Jubilee Line Extension, step Free Access is provided by Lifts.

From Christmas Day 2005 the Jubilee Line was closed whilst the Platform Edge Doors were modified and the 1996 Stock trains was lengthened to 7 car sets which also at the same time 10 more sets were added bring the total fleet to 63 however due to the closure of Washwood Heath, Birmingham in 2003 the other 10 sets were constructed at Alstom's plant in Barcelona, Spain. Somehow what was predicted to take a full week in the end only took just 5 days and the line reopened on December 31st in time for the New Year.

A new Crossrail station of Canary Wharf located on the other side near West India Quay DLR station was largely completed and was suppose to open in December 2018 with services being provided from Abbey Wood however due to cost overruns from signalling issues, unfinished stations etc meant the date of opening has been pushed back however at present no set date has been determined.

In 2013 a YouGov Poll voted Canary Wharf being London’s Most Loved Station and also not forgetting to mention the busiest station on the Underground to be served by one Line.

The Jubilee Line extension from Green Park to Stratford overall opened a year late and exceeded it’s original construction budget of £2.1 billion and in the end due to overruns from engineering difficulties as well as problems on the construction of the Heathrow Express route from Hayes and Harlington to Heathrow Terminal 4 which included a Tunnel collapse in October 1994 which as a consequence halted construction on the JLE for over a year which also was using the new Austrian Tunnelling method.

Westminster station wouldn’t be opened until over 32 days later after trains began running to Stratford due to the engineering difficulties with the platforms there have to be stacked on top of each other to avoid not only subsidise of Big Ben but also supporting the Portcullis House office building. It would be the final station on the JLE to open being Tuesday December 22nd 1999.

The final cost of the Jubilee Line Extension was a total of £3.5 Billion.

Filmed on Sunday February 3rd 2019 on iPhone 8 and edited on iMovie
