Fifth devlog for my (soon-to-be-titled?) dungeon-crawling RPG, developed in Godot.
Progress this week:
Shop logic for buying and selling items is now implemented
Added animated sprites for Snake and Sheep summons, and summons now have a fade-in animation when summoned
Implemented Attack, Defense and Agility stats that affect damage calculation, and a placeholder stat called Mind (which will affect magic damage and resistance to some status effects, among other things)
Added critical hits - Inflicting one makes a normal attack free in terms of time
Summoned minions now flee battle when their summoner dies
Added a functional bed that heals HP and MP, and reverts status effects
Numerous bug fixes, mostly related to menu navigation/battle timing, or implementation of battle system rules due to changes made recently
Made small changes to styling to remove default fonts and colours, not meant to be a real UI yet
The main inspirations for the game have been Shin Megami Tensei, particularly Strange Journey, as well as Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, and Pokemon. Like SMT and Pokemon, the game has a recruitment mechanic for party members.
