Snow falls quietly over Kinkaku-ji, Kyoto’s famous Golden Pavilion.
But why is this Zen temple covered in gold?
Originally built in 1397 as the villa of shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, the temple later became a Zen Buddhist site.
It was destroyed during the Onin War (1467–1477) and burned down again in 1950.
What we see today is a reconstruction — a symbol of beauty reborn from fire and history.
In this video, we walk around the temple grounds in winter silence, exploring not only its beauty but also the story behind its golden glow.

雪が静かに降る金閣寺。
なぜこの禅寺は金で覆われているのでしょうか。
1397年、足利義満の別荘として建てられたこの建物は、のちに禅寺となりました。
応仁の乱（1467–1477）や1950年の放火により焼失し、現在の姿は再建されたものです。
