What Happens at Chrism Mass? The Chrism Mass manifests the communion of the priests with their bishop, where they will renew their pledge of obedience to the Bishop.

The other significant feature of this Mass is the blessing and consecrating of oils, used in the pastoral and sacramental life of the Church. One of these three oils, the holy oil of Chrism, gives the reason why the Eucharistic celebration is also called the Chrism Mass. At this Mass, the bishop will bless three oils – the oil of catechumens, the oil of the infirm or the sick, and he will be consecrating holy chrism.
Recorded Mar 2017 at the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd, Singapore.
